I've bought a book, Be Iron Fit, by Don Fink, I've read that, I've decided to the follow the intermediate training plan in there. I've worked out my heart rate zones (I'll publish them at a later date) and figured that the full training plan needs to start in December.
I also decided that I actually need to do something for the next month to arrest the fat gains and get a bit of base fitness back.
My office is 16 miles from home, I cycled there this morning, I attempted to cycle home again this evening, it rained, I got two punctures, ran out of spare inners and was stuck soaked in the arse end of nowhere.
I had a little smirk to myself, this is Ironman.
Tin to Iron
Back in May this year I completed my first ever triathlon after 32 years of near lethargy, the Mallorca Ironman 70.3. I lost nearly two stone in weight and felt amazing from it, wide awake all day and evening, then belting sleeps. Then I proceeded to do little to nothing until 1 stone of the weight was back on, with my jeans feeling tight again I've signed up for Ironman UK 2012, full distance this time. This blog will document the next 9 months of my Ironman journey.

Current situation.
I'm 6"2 and weigh close to 95kgs, I've done one triathlon in my life, granted that was a half Ironman, but man was it hard and I've had five months to let that training slip, now I'm doing full distance Ironman.
I've got a different angle on running and swimming to most, I run barefoot thanks to Born To Run by Chris McDougal and I swim Total Immersion, thanks to Tracey at www.swimsolutions.co.uk. Tracey taught me to swim for Ironman 70.3, before those six months of lessons I could swim 20 meters with my head out of the water before I was absolutely spanked.
Finally I've got a cool Specialized Tarmac Pro carbon road bike I got as a free upgrade because I broke the old one being a massive fatty.
